We pride ourselves on the high standard of food we serve and ensure all children receive a healthy and filling school meal.
At a cost of only £2 per pupil per day or £1.70 per Nursery pupil per day we believe we are one of, if not the, cheapest school dinner in Birmingham.
We are proud to have recently been awarded a 5 star rating for food hygiene.
Our catering staff are employed by the school so we have the flexibility to design our own menus and offer portion sizes that we feel are more appropriate for our pupils.
Our Catering Manager Sharon uses a number of suppliers to source the fresh and seasonal produce used in our delicious menus.
We believe that 'only the best will do' for our pupils.
Some of our menu contains allergens including peanuts and other nuts, sesame, cereals containing gluten, eggs, milk, mustard, celery, fish, soya, molluscs, crustacea, lupin and sulphur dioxide/sulphites.
If your child has a school meal and suffers from an allergen or has any intolerance you must inform the Catering Manager.
Just as eating a healthy school dinner can help maintain your child's energy levels at school so can packing a healthy lunchbox.
At Twickenham we pride ourselves on the importance of children eating healthily and would like to ask the parents to encourage this.
Below are suggestions to provide your child with a healthy lunchbox which should include:
A good portion of starchy food i.e. bread roll, wraps, pitta or wholemeal bread with fillings of protein e.g. cheese, tuna or egg.
Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables like carrot sticks or cucumber or peppers.
A milk based drink or a portion of diary food like cheese or a yogurt.
Plenty of drinking water.
Remember foods high in fat and sugar should be resisted. We do not allow sweets, chocolate, savoury snacks and fizzy drinks at lunchtime.
Please ask a member of staff if you require any further information.
