Forest Schools Club
This Club has been offered to Year 6 pupils for the Spring term.
Following the success of the Autumn term forest club, Mrs Webb and Miss Doody have offered new places on this after school club for this term.
The clubs aims are:
· to nurture a sense of fun
· to raise self-esteem
· to improve independence
· to encourage team work
· to develop a deeper understanding of our natural world.
The sessions are loosely planned using children’s ideas and interests and will include campfire activities, woodwork with tools, nature detective work and forest site maintenance.
Using the stimulus of the natural world through the changing seasons, we will be making the most of our exciting outdoor spaces in all weathers and appreciating the opportunity to move at a slower pace and enjoying the feeling of being outside.
All activities have been properly risk assessed and will be carried out under direct supervision from Mrs Webb, who is a trained Forest Leader and a first aider.
The sessions actively promote opportunities for creativity, sensory interaction with the environment and an opportunity for the children to manage risks.
Forest School activities promote the wellbeing of the whole child, and every member of the team is a valuable one with something of worth to contribute to each session to make it a unique experience.
The sessions run on Tuesday evenings after school, from 3.15 – 4.30pm.
